OpenAI revealed Sora, a text-to-video model about a week ago. It might be even more amazing than watching ChatGPT generate text and has the potential to forever change video creation or film making. With some more tweaks to the output format, it could probably generate some pretty cool video game worlds as well.
If this takes off, does it even render actors obsolete? Famous ones can command a pretty high salary, but an AI model isn’t going to ask for anything. It seems like a lot of genres would be forever changed by a tool this powerful.
I think when I imagined the future of machine learning or AI tools a couple of years ago, I was expecting robots and manufacturing improvements, but these first waves of breakthroughs are really focused around the creative arts.
